'Shrek 2' Stays on Top of Box Office

Dreamworks' animation 'Shrek 2' stayed strong at the local box office, taking the top spot for the second week in a row.
The film, starring the voices of such Hollywood notables as Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and Cameron Diaz, has been seen by 1.8 million viewers nationwide since opening June 18.

Over the weekend, the film was seen by 200,000 in Seoul, giving it the No. 1 spot in the local box office.

"Anun Yoja (A Woman I Know - Someone Special)," a Romantic Comedy starring Lee Na-young and Jung Jae-young, came in second on its opening weekend. It brought in 61,000 in Seoul on Saturday and Sunday, and 250,000 nationwide on its first four days.

"The Day After Tomorrow," a film about natural disasters, dropped to third in its fourth week of release. It was seen by 58,300 in Seoul and over 2.5 million overall since its release on June 3.

The local horror film "Ryung/ The Ghost/Dead Friend" came in at fourth with 46,500 in Seoul, while Brad Pitt's mythological blockbuster "Troy" was in fifth place, taking in 28,900.
