Director Park Chan-wook to meet Morricone

Cannes-winning director Park Chan-wook will meet composer Ennio Morricone next week in Seoul, said concert organizers, Thursday.

The Italian composer-conductor, known for his music for films such as "Cinema Paradise" and "The Mission", will hold concerts at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Gwanghwamun, and will meet Park either before or after the May 17 performance.

Organizers planned the event since Park, known for featuring classical scores in his films such as "Oldboy", is a longtime fan of Morricone, while the composer also has expressed interest in the director's oeuvre.

"Mr. Morricone said he felt the increasingly important presence of Korean cinema in European festivals and film circles, and that he would be interested in working on a Korean film project if the chance arose", said a staff of the Sejong Center.

The two cineastes have never met before. The talks will be held privately.
