[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Three Days" Episode 3

...And it turns out that Tae-kyeong is, beyond all reasonable doubt, a wizard. I really can't come up with any other explanation for his accomplishments this episode. At one point he actually manages to knock someone out with the Vulcan nerve pinch. At least I'm assuming that's what he did- we don't see it very clearly but I can't imagine how else he could have forced this person into unconsciousness. For pity's sake, "Three Days", at least hand him some chloroform or something.

There's also the extended car chase, which has an ending I still can't figure out. So the bad guy is driving this giant semi, and all he has to do to kill our heroes is score a direct hit and knock them over. So in response Tae-kyoung...hits the semi at a weird angle? Huh? That entire resolution looked completely physically impossible. I don't care if it was in their special secret service training I expect my action dramas to at least pretend like they're following the laws of physics.

As far as characterization goes I'm still not sure what to make of anything. So I guess Bo-won does not actually fully trust Tae-kyeong, or maybe he just didn't bother explaining what was going on right? On some level I'm maybe being unfair- they did team up kind of abruptly in the first place. But it's rather strange for her to be good with the scheme only to immediately change her mind upon discovering Tae-kyeong is apparently involved in some shady stuff? I thought she'd already guessed that much?

What's more, we've got inexpicable action sequences, bizarre character drama, and huge swings in competence showing up practically at random. How's this showdown at the train station even supposed to work? They're looking out for Tae-kyeong, except not really? Or the president? Is the plan to kill the president on the train? That has to be one of the worst possible places to commit an assassination. Trains are by definition closed spaces. You can't really run away from them.

But the worst problem right now is that the drama just isn't interesting. There's lots of vague explanation of the assassination attempt and conspiracy, but nothing actually meaningful, mostly because this is the third episode and the drama can't really discuss any of that stuff yet. Unfortunately there's so little relevantly at stake that these little snippets just aren't enough. "Three Days" is getting to be really dumb and pointless, really fast.
