On December 21st the American film distributor Film Movement Classics confirmed that four films from legendary South Korean director Lee Chang-dong would be receiving 4K restorations. The films in question include his debut, "Green Fish" from 1996, and his better known "Peppermint Candy" from 1999 as well a "Oasis" from 2002 and "Poetry" from 2010. The 4K restorations will appear in theaters throughout the United States this spring, with a Blu-Ray set coming in Summer of 2024.

Lee Chang-dong is historically known for his important role in the Korean New Wave of the nineties and aughts via these films. However, to contemporary audiences, he may be better known for "Burning" from 2018. Lee Chang-dong hasn't done any directing work since that time, though he does have a handful of production credits for other films. Film Movement Plus is available as a channel on Amazon Prime, although none of these titles are yet available on it even in standard definition.
