HK School to Make Janggeum Text

The Korean drama "Jewel in the Palace" ("Dae Jang Geum"), which recorded the highest ratings in Hong Kong in 2005, will be made into a Hong Kong school textbook.

The Korea Tourism Organization says 43 staff members and students of a prestigious Hong Kong Catholic primary school will visit Korea Tuesday for four days to prepare for the book's publication.

With a focus on Korean culture, information technology and the environment, they will experience traditional Korean etiquette and customs including kimchi making and a performance by the Little Angels art troupe in Seoul. They will also meet with students of Sanggyeong Elementary School and visit Samsung Electronics.

A school official said the textbook aims to teach children the endeavor and diligence of the heroine Janggeum portrayed in the drama.

The book will be provided to some 1,500 schools across Hong Kong.
