KOFIC attends to the 59th Cannes International Film Festival, promoting Korean Films invited to the festival as well as the Korean films in general.
KOFIC, with cooperation with KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), opens the KOREA PAVILLION at the Village International from 17th to 27th for the festival period. The Korea Pavilion plays a central role for film people's meeting place, information gathering and exchanging forKorean films, policy and industry. The Korea Pavilion is booth number 121 at the Village International, telephone number is + 33 (0)4 93 99 85 91.
KOFIC also holds its traditional KOREAN FILM NIGHT to celebrate the three Korean films at Cannes this year, the Host by BONG Joon-ho in Directors' Fortnight, The Unforgiven by YOON Jong-bin in Un Certain Regard, and a short film Sweet Home Sweet by UM Hye-jung in International Critics' Week. High profile people from major international film festivals, organizations, sales and distributions, as well as journals, will be invited.
AFIN (Asian Film Industry Network), one of KOFIC's projects for co-development of Asian Film Industry, holds a provisional meeting at Cannes. AFIN was officially launched in the Pusan International Film Festival in 2005, with four members signing on the membership, which are Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea.
In addition, KOFIC will have a luncheon meeting with major press and journals, including Cahiers du Cinema, Variety, and Screen International, to discuss ways to make better KOFIC's role as a information provider.
