Korean companies participating in MIPCOM 2006, the largest international audiovisual content trade show held in Cannes, France, have sealed several large export contracts, making this year's participation much more successful than that of last year, a report said.

Some 30 Korean animation production and distribution companies, including Samji Animation, VOOZ and Synergy Media have attracted the interest of many buyers, which led to the signing of five significant export contracts during the show. Moreover, about 10 companies are actively negotiating over the terms of exporting 24 works to foreign markets.

* Following the success of the first season of Jewel in the Palace ("Dae Jang Geum (Animation)"), its second season will be broadcast on a Taiwanese TV channel
PIX TREND, a foreign sales agent, exports the second season of Jewel in the Palace ("Dae Jang Geum (Animation)"),, a TV animation, to Taiwan. The said second season of this hugely popular animation has not even been produced yet. It has been reported that season 2 was the highest-paid Korean animation film ever sold to Taiwan.

* DIBO is exported to the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
DIBO, a 3D animation by OCON (CEO: Kim, Il-Ho), has been sold to TELESCREEN, an animation agency that covers Benelux, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. TELESCREEN now owns DIBO's TV broadcasting rights, video business rights, TV distribution rights, and licensing rights.

* Bakkom, seals a contract wit BRB on small and big screen animation projects
RG Animation Studio (CEO: Kim, Kang-Deok) has sealed an investment contract for Bakkom Season 2, a 1.2-M-worth animation project, with Spain's BRB International. BRB had also invested Bakkom's first season. In addition to the investment contract, BRB and RG Animation also entered into a contract on four full-feature animations for the big screen.

* MIXMASTER negotiates an export contract with five countries including Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand
SUNWOO Entertainment (CEO: Lee, Kyeong-Hoon and Kim, Cheol-Joong) has sold MIXMASTER to Nickelodeon Studio. As a result, MIXMASTER will be broadcast in the UK, Italy, and Spain in December and early next year. The company also received sales proposals from Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Thailand and is currently negotiating for more concrete deals.

* LAMIMILA, enters into a contract on joint production with Moonscoop in Paris, France
Having been recognized for its quality by securing EBS and France 5 as its main broadcasting companies from the planning stage, LAMIMILA is distributed by TAFFY Entertainment, a major international distribution company.
