Park Chan-wook Retrospective to Be Held

A special retrospective on the films by award-winning director Park Chan-wook will take place at Theater 2.0 in Apkujong-dong, Seoul from Friday.

All of Park's films, including "Oldboy", which recently received the runner-up prize at Cannes, will be screened until June 22. They include the director's first film "Tal-un ... Haega Kkunun Kkum (Moon Is a Dream of the Sun)" from 1992, which tells of two brothers who take different directions in life; "Saminjo (Trio)" from 1997, a comedy about three people who try to find something they lost; "Joint Security Area JSA" from 2000, a drama detailing friendship between South and North Korean soldiers in the DMZ; and 2002's "Poksu-nun Na-ui Kot (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance)" a gritty tale of revenge exacted by a man whose daughter is kidnapped.

The screenings are being organized by Theater 2.0 and the theater and film department of Dankook University. A special question-and-answer session with Park will take place on at 8:30 p.m. on June 22 at the theater. The films will not show English subtitles.
