Park Jin-hee and Ye Ji-won to Star in the KBS Historical Drama "The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won"

KBS 1TV announced that actresses Park Jin-hee and Ye Ji-won are also in the historical drama "The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won".

Park Jin-hee plays Queen Wongyeong of the Yeoheung Min clan and Ye Ji-won plays Sindeok of the Goksan Kang clan, Joseon's first queen.

Previously, Joo Sang-wook was selected to play the role of Emperor Yi Bang-won and Kim Young-chul as King Yi Seonggye.

"The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won" sheds new light on leader Yi Bang-won who took the initiative to establish the Empire of Joseon during the end of the Goryeo Dynasty and early Joseon Dynasty when the ancient order of Goryeo was destroyed and the new order of Joseon was created.

The production explained, "We have come to plan and produce the drama "The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won due to the earnest wishes and aspirations of viewers who have been waiting for authentic epic dramas. The fact that we look at Yi Bang-won, a historical figure, from a different perspective will interest viewers".

It added, "We hope find this drama finds out the lives of various characters who lived fiercely in the midst of a huge historical trend and opens up a conversation about the true leader the generation needs".

The drama is being helmed by Kim Hyung-il and written by Lee Jeong-woo-III.

The drama premieres this December.
