Park Yoo-chun Likely to Escape Rape Charges

Police in Gangnam say a woman who accused boy group member Park Yoo-chun of rape tried to blackmail Park's management agency and was paid around W100 million (US$1=W1,155).

Police are considering filing charges against the woman.

Earlier, Park filed slander charges against Lee, her boyfriend and another acquaintance, prompting police to ban them from leaving Korea.

Police have questioned Park four times since June 30 but have not been able to find evidence to prove he had coerced the woman and three others who have since come forward into having sex with him.

"The women who filed charges were surprised or stunned, but most of them said they were not assaulted or threatened, so it is difficult to prove coercion", a police spokesman said.

Police are considering dropping charges against Park on all four counts of alleged rape.
