On the eighth episode of the KBS 2TV drama "Love in the Moonlight", Kim Byeong-yeon (Kwak Dong-yeon) found out who Hong Sam-nom (Hong Ra-on / Kim You-jung) really is.

Lee Yeong (Park Bo-gum) ordered Kim Byeong-eon to find the lost daughter of his father Soon Jo (Kim Seung-soo) and Hong Kyeong-rae and Kim Byeong-eon started tracking now the last traces of Hong Kyeong-rae.

The people of the village which Hong Kyeong-rae used to live in said they thought Hong Kyeong-rae was a widow because she lived alone with her daughter. Sometimes they heard shouting in the house and sometimes they saw bags of rice outside the door so they thought it was the father. However, that was Hong Kyeong-rae. The baby was young but pretty and she was called Hong Ra-on.

Kim Byeong-eon used her name as a base to find her step-father Ggok Doo-se (Jung Suk-yong) and asked him if she was the one he raised since she was young. He answered that he didn't know and that she'd run away. Kim Byeong-eon left after saying, "If someone else comes looking for her, tell them you don't know. Or evacuate this place as you're in danger".

Ggok Doo-se trusted Kim Byeong-eon and said, "If you're really trying to protect her, Sam-nom, he's in the Palace right now. She was sold there for my debt". Kim Byeong-yeon was shocked to find out that Sam-nom was actually Ra-on.
