Star Director Mistaken for Vagrant

Director Kim Ki-duk (45), the winner of director prizes at the Venice and Berlin film festivals, was mistaken for a homeless man at a police station on Friday, the Kyunghyang Shinmun reported.

On Friday afternoon, Kim went to Jungbu Police Station in Seoul to obtain a permit to manufacture a model gun for his new film. But his seedy appearance inspired little confidence, and when he kept repeating the phrase, "The leading man's gun, the leading man's gun", police decided he must be a disturbed vagrant.

The paper said police nonetheless made inquiries on the off-chance the man was indeed Kim Ki-duk, and when they found he was immediately changed their manner and asked the director for his autograph.
