Survey Gives Assembly Vote to Minister Lee Chang-dong

Internet users voted Lee Chang-dong as the filmmaker whom they would have most likely supported if he ran for the National Assembly.
In a survey conducted by the Web site Cinetizen (www.cinetizen. net) from April 5 through 11, Lee, director of such critically acclaimed films as "Peppermint Candy" and "Oasis" who is currently serving as minister of culture and tourism, received 30.1 percent of the votes to the question, "If a filmmaker were to run for the National Assembly, who would you support?"

Im Kwon-taek, who is finishing up his 99th film, "Low Life", and controversial art film director Kim Ki-duk followed with 26.3 percent and 24.2 percent of the votes, respectively.

The two directors responsible for the recent record-breaking blockbusters, "Taegukgi" 's Kang Je-gyu and "Silmido" 's Kang Woo-suk, came in fourth and fifth with 23.7 percent and 17.4 percent.

Three-hundred Internet users took part in the survey.
