"Deranged" tells about the outbreak of virus-infected mutant parasites called "gordius aquaticus" or horsehair worms (Korean: yeongasi). These worms that usually invade land-dwelling insects like grasshoppers and crickets, start infecting humans. The worms manipulate the mental state of their victims by turning them into water-obsessed creatures that jump into a body of water and eventually drown. The strange phenomenon caused hundreds of people their lives, and more dead bodies are found floating in rivers, lakes and seas around the country by the day. Since the cause of the deaths is unknown, fear, panic and anxiety rule amongst the people.

Kim Myung-min plays the role of a medical equipment salesman (Jae Hyuk) who struggles to save his wife (Moon Jeong-hee) and children who are showing similar symptoms to those who have been infected. His brother Jae Pil, a police detective helps in the investigation of the outbreak and through him, Jae Hyuk discovers the potential cure for the infection. But, will they be successful in their search for the drug?

"Deranged" is the work of successful comedy scriptwriter-turned-director Park Jeong-woo, writer of hit comedy movies "Attack the Gas Station!" (Movie, 1999) and "Kick the Moon" (Movie, 2001). Release date in Korean theaters is slated on 15 July 2012, as confirmed by Ozone Film CEO Kim Sang Oh in his twitter account.
