"The Host" Expected to Become Box Office Hit in Japan

The popularity of Korean blockbuster movie The Host will likely go across the Korea Straits.

According to a survey of 12-thousand-753 Japanese Internet users by Yahoo! Japan and Asahi TV, The Host won two-thousand-449 votes, or 20 percent of the total respondents, ranking first among the films to open on September 2nd that Japanese moviegoers want to watch the most.

The film will open on two-hundred-50 screens across Japan under the Korean original title, "Goemul", meaning "monster".

The movie will then be shown in other Asian countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia, before being released in Western Europe in October or later. It will also be on shown in the United States in February 2007.

Meanwhile, the flick has sold more than one-point-one million tickets at Korean box offices as of Thursday.
