This Week's New Movies: Monster House, Lump Sugar & More

Time to check the week's new releases.
Son Hee-kyung looks at the latest movies playing at local cinemas.

"Monster House" is not your typical children's feel-good movie.
The cartoon comedy contains some scary images, crude humor, as well as adult language.
It's about three kids who discover that their neighbors' house is a living and frightening monster.
What scares children even more is that this house eats kids for lunch and dinner.
"Monster House" is getting a lot of attention because it's the first animation project for American director Steven Spielberg.

"Tales From Earthsea" is an animated feature directed by Japan's Goro Miyazaki .
The movie is based on "The Farthest Shore" the third book of the Earthsea series about the fantasy archipelago of Earthsea.
This, the first film to be adapted from Japan's Earthsea series has topped Japan's box-office rankings in its opening week.

"Lump of Sugar" is the first Korean film to feature a horse race.
Korean actress Lim Soo-jung says during the shooting she learned that people and animals can develop a deep bond.
The film revolves around a woman known as Lim who dreams of being a jockey.
She falls in love with a horse called Changgun who dies while giving birth.
While living with her father Lim dotes love on a foal naming her Chundung Korean for thunder.
Two years pass before she fulfills her dream of becoming a jockey during which time she must surmount many obstacles including gender bias.

Last up is the Korean film "Dasepo Girl".
Set in a high school the film tells a story of students and their teachers who grow to become very close friends.
The film based on an online comic series is awash in naughty humor.
