`Lady Vengeance' Gets Love From Venice Film Festival

The Asian film programmer of the Venice Film Festival said Park Chan-wook's new film "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" is likely to be invited to this year's event, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Elena Polacci, who watched the film during her visit to Seoul last week, called it the best Korean film she has seen this year, signaling the possibility it will be selected for the competition section for the 62nd Venice Film Festival, held Aug. 31-Sept. 10.

Festival organizers are expected to unveil this year's nominees later this month.

The movie is the final installment in Park's revenge-themed trilogy and stars Lee Young-ae in the lead role.

"Lady Vengeance" opens in theaters across the nation on July 29.
