'Bedevilled' to screen at Austin Fantastic Fest

"Bedevilled", helmed by Kim Ki-duk's former assistant director Jang Cheol-soo will play at the Austin Texas's Fantastic Fest 2010. The film which has just won the 'Pucheon Best' award also appeared in the Critics' Week section at Cannes this year.

A mash of genres from crime thriller, melodrama through to slasher-horror, the film tells the tale of stressed out Seoulite who escapes to the island of her birth. There she encounters a small group of parochial and insular villages who rarely have any outside contact. She meets her old childhood friend who is used and abused by the villagers at every turn. Things come to a head however when the extreme amount of abuse climaxes and the friend's young daughter is killed.
Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S and will kick off September 23 and end September 30.
