'D-War' Still Most Searched on Internet

Korean blockbuster movie "D-War" was still the most searched word among netizens.

According to Naver, the nation's most popular Internet portal, the monster movie, which was released on Aug. 1, has attracted more than 8 million viewers to cinemas across the country so far.

Comedian-turned-movie director Shim Hyung-rae plans to preview the science fiction film to Hollywood moviemakers in Los Angeles on Thursday. The 30 million-dollar film will be shown on 2,000 screens in the United States.

Popular comedian Yoo Jae-suk placed second on the portal's most searched keywords last week. A news report that Yoo will leave the SBS quiz-like show, "Game for Truth", aroused the attention of Internet users. Yoo has presented the program for more than four years.

Korean hostages back from Afghanistan continued to stir up controversy among netizens. Especially, many have questioned whether the government paid ransom to the Taliban militants in return for the release of the 19 hostages.

An album titled "Story of Little Kid", by singer HaHa ranked fourth. Produced as an online single album, the music was downloaded more than 40 million times in last two weeks and estimated to earn one billion won.

"Hongdae murders" came next. "Hongdae" is a popular clubbing area around Hongik University in Seoul. Two young females were kidnapped in the area by three men in a rented taxi and killed. The murders alerted many nighttime female taxi users.

The name of comedian Kim Gook-jin's ex-wife, Lee Yoon-sung, took sixth place.

Kim who retreated from the entertainment world after his divorce and appeared on an MBC night talk show Wednesday, confessed that he was suffering from "social phobia" and spoke of how he got through the harsh time.

After the show aired, many people clicked his ex-wife and her new husband, dentist Hong Ji-ho as well.

Following the recently ended TV drama, "Time Between Dog and Wolf - Drama", actress Yoon Eun-hye and Hyundai Motor ranked eighth and ninth, respectively. Hyundai Motor last week agreed on an annual wage deal and avoided a strike for the first time in 10 years.

Lastly, the hairstyle of a member of popular singer group "Super Junior" attracted public attention. Kangin shaved his head and showed it off during a radio program through a live online video clip. Some netizens were shocked with the hairstyle while others commented they found him cute.
