'Encore' in Daejeon

Korea's one and only independent animation film festival, Indie-AniFest's Encore, a local tour screening event, makes a stop in Daejeon.

The Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association (President: Nah, Gi-Yong) announced that it would open Encore at the Daejeon Art Cinema from June 11 to 17, screening 56 films from Indie-AniFest 2006, including last year's opening film Hell (director: Yeon, Sang-Ho), and the grand prize-winning film "Everyone is a Lonely Star" (director: Han Byeong-Ah).

Having started in February, Encore has already visited Daegu and Incheon, and soon will come to Busan and Gwangju in August.

"Film festivals are often held only in Seoul, a trend that alienates many animation fans in local communities", said Choi, Yu-Jin, director of the association that hosts the festival. "We have proposed this festival that tours around the nation to expand the base of indie-animation and transcend the limitations of one-time only festivals".
