'Extreme Job' Becomes Most Successful Korean Comedy

Director Lee Byeong-heon-I's comedy "Extreme Job" has become Korea's biggest box-office hit comedy in just 19 days after its release on Jan. 23.

The Korean Film Council said Monday that the film sold some 12.83 million tickets as of Sunday, beating "Miracle in Cell No.7", which drew 12.81 million viewers.

The film revolves around a team of anti-narcotics detectives who go undercover in a fried chicken restaurant to take down an organized drug ring.

The achievement came just four days after it hit the 10-million-viewer mark last Wednesday, and now it remains to be seen how far it will eventually go at the box office.
