'Hammer boy' seems to receive resilience for the Middle East inroads

As home-made animation 'Hammer Boy' receives the Grand Prix from children screening committee at the 15th Cairo International Children Film Festival held from Apri 3-10 in Cairo, Egypt, the animation's inroads into the Middle East market is likely to receive resilience with this time Film Festival's awarding as a momentum.

This time's Grand Prix was decided by a vote after children from 40 countries around the globe previewed participation films during its event period.

Character Plan, Hammer Boy's production firm, said, "This time's award is forecast to become a great help for the Middle East inroads of animation Hammer Boy", adding Hammer Boy receives continuous interest about succeeding animation production.

Mangchi, the Hammer Boy, an anime feature that bears strong resemblance to much of Japanese master Hayao Miyazaki's work, uses this influence to advantage in its dazzling, intricately rendered and designed visuals; its lovable and colorful characters, a little girl with an unrequited crush on neighbor Mangchi deserving special mention; its gripping story with uplifting content; and its sprightly, perfectly suited score.

Set in 2112 AD, on an Earth transformed by the cataclysmic Great Disaster's earthquakes and tidal waves, where remnants of land barely sustain scattered civilizations struggling to maintain industrial development, the film opens on isolated Candlestick Island.

Here, amidst the remains of an immense skyscraper, a small, close-knit community provides a home for the eponymous protagonist, a pre-adolescent, rambunctious boy? Mangchi, who yearns to discover the world beyond his humdrum enclave.
