'King and the Clown' Breaks Record

The nation's No.1 film "The King and the Clown" is a fictionalized account of a tyrant king and court jesters from the Choson Kingdom.

Since opening on Dec. 29 at some 250 venues nationwide, it broke the 10-million-viewer mark in 46 days and became the third movie to join the 11 viewer-mark club in 57 days. The historical piece gradually increased its number of venues thanks to its phenomenal popularity.

On Sunday it broke the previous record of 11.74 million ticket sales set by the 2004 war movie "Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War". Statistically, that indicates one in four South Koreans have seen the film.
