'Many go out for wool and come home shorn' Kim Tae-hee is getting backlash with MBC Special

2011/04/06 | Permalink | Source

Actress Kim Tae-hee is being strongly back lashed with "MBC Special – Rediscovering Kim Tae-hee". The intensity is too big to be regarded as 'anti-fandom'. The MBC production crew is being directly criticized at for work that was only like an information program that carries the life of a celebrity and anti-Kim Tae-hee sites have been popping up.

The timing was obscure. Kim Tae-hee was in the MBC drama "My Princess" last February. She had appeared in a news program after only a month after her drama. This is one reason many interpret this 'Special' as a 'Kim Tae-hee supporting project'. Even the 2009 MBC sitcom "Tae Hee, Hye Kyo, Ji Hyun" is being misunderstood. MBC explained it wasn't naming specific stars but had quite the marketing effect.

"Rediscovering Kim Tae-hee"s fundamental problem was in the weak structure. In the beginning the production crew revealed their plans saying, "We will capture what top star Kim Tae-hee is thinking and anything else that hadn't been revealed yet". However, the program itself was different. There were more frequent approaches to the questions about her recent rumors. One representative case was the comment that she had received all A's in the third grade of middle school, as if to confirm Kim Tae-hee being the intelligent actress from the National University of Seoul. Self confessions like "Men wouldn't have let me be", "I eat well and sleep well on sets" also were low quality enough to be on MBC "Section News" or KBS "Entertainment News" or even SBS "TV News at Night".

Beyond everything, what the viewers seem to have a problem with "Rediscovering Kim Tae-hee" is that the documentary didn't have its sincerity. MBC had been so keen on casting people that they even had a silencing order put down on them. They had received favorable reactions with characters who have been achieving great in their own areas like Park Ji-sung or Choo Sin-soo, and for dealing with sensitive matters such as the matter on Tablo forging of his education and such. The only weak point of Kim Tae-hee who has had the title of a goddess from the start, is her acting skill. In the "Rediscovering of Kim Tae-hee", she said acting like I studied was the cause of defeat". However, viewers point out that wasn't even material enough to have been dealt with for an hour in a documentary.

Kim Tae-hee is one celebrity that hasn't decreased in stardom since her debut. Her outstanding beauty and intelligence created an acting issue but that didn't stop her from become top ranking in commercials and advertisements, and local TV stations were desperate to serve Kim Tae-hee. The reason why documentaries that deal with a person's honest problems or an issue with society, don't deal with celebrities is because this stardom could create a disharmony driven by the viewers. There needs to be effort in creating a celebrity documentary with more human agony and sincerity, and not just be a use for increasing ratings.
