'Quota Cut to Hurt Domestic Films' Share'

The majority of domestic Internet users expect the market share of South Korean movies to fall after the screen quota is halved from July 1st.

Web movie ticket seller Maxmovie on Wednesday said 40 percent of 3,833 Internet users polled last week believe domestic movies will see their market share decline within a year after the quota cut.

The screen quota is the number of days a year that the country's theaters must show domestic films. The government will reduce the figure on July 1st from 146 days to 73.

Thirty-four percent expected little impact, while 22 percent said the market share of homegrown movies will fall a year after the cut.
