'SICAF 2006' opens on May 24

The schedule of the 10th Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival (SICAF) (Committee chair: Shim, Sang-gi) will be held from May 24 to 28 at SETEC in Daechi-dong and Yongsan CGV, Seoul.

SICAF changed the event's schedule from August to May for its 10th anniversary to attract more Korean and international buyers, the organization committee said.

Divided into three major categories - cartoon and animation exhibition, animated film festival, and animation film market, the SICAF Promotion Plan (SPP), SICAF this year plans to hold as its main event the exhibition with 'Cartoon, Over the Barrier of Genres' as its theme, which will revisit and illuminate the current status of Korean cartoon, which has been contributing to the development of other genres, such as film, plays, musicals, TV dramas, and games.

Meanwhile, SICAF also appointed as the SICAF Awards Selection Committee six committee members for the cartoon category: cartoonist Lee Doo-ho (advisor at the Korea Cartoonist Association), Yun Ki-hyun (professor at the Animation program, Miryang National University), Tak Yeong-ho (executive director, The Cartoon & Animation Society of Korea), Jang,Jeong-sook (Editor, Haksan Publishing Co.), Lee Joon-sam (reporter, Yonhap News), and Kim, Jae-yoon (Congressman, Uri Party), and five committee members for the animation category: Cho Bok-dong (CEO, A.C. Production), Kim Byeong-heon (director, Gyeonggi Digital Contents Agency), Lee Kyo-jeong (managing director, Korean Animation Producers Association), Seol Jong-hoon, (executive director, the Animation Society of Korea), and Jeong Hyeong-mo (reporter, JoongAng Daily Newspaper).
