'Silmido' breaks film export price record

South Korea's blockbuster movie "Silmido" broke the price record for Korean films sold to Taiwan, the film's promoter said on Sunday (Feb. 29).

Silmido, about a group of commandos trained to assassinate then-North Korean leader Kim Il-sung in the early 1970s, has also set a record in the domestic film industry with more than 10 million tickets sold in the 58 days after its release Dec. 24.

Inno Communications Inc. said a Taiwan film distributor had offered to pay three times what it did for the romance comedy "My Sassy Girl", which was the titleholder.
