Two Korean movies, 'SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE' and 'WELCOME TO DONGMAKGOL' have a bursting showdown each other while Hollywood blockbusters such as 'War of the Worlds', and 'The Island' sweep over Seoul movie street.

First of all, the two movies unroll the offensive of the amount of materials to release in screens over 350 theaters.

SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE ("Chinjeolhan Geumja-ssi") is first, the long anticipated third film of director Park Chan-wook's 'Revenge Trilogy' which includes Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance and Old boy.

Up until now, the plot of the story has been kept closely guarded, but what is known is that it is about a thirty year old woman (who may have spent the last 13 years in prison) out to seek revenge on the man who betrayed her.

The movie joins the considerable talent of Choi Min-sik (Old boy, Springtime, in a minor but important role) and Lee Young-ae (One Fine Spring Day, JSA - Joint Security Area). This Moho Film production is scheduled for a July 29 release by CJ Entertainment.

WELCOME TO DONGMAKGOL. Based on a popular stage play by Jang Jin, this film is set in a remote mountain village during the Korean War.

The life of the villagers is turned upside down when soldiers from the North and South end up stranded and living in their community. To top things off, an American fighter pilot's plane crashes nearby, so he ends up joining them.

Starring Shin Ha-gyoon (Save the Green Planet), Jung Jae-young (Someone Special), and Kang Hye-jung (Oldboy), this $4 million film will mark the feature debut of Bae Jong, who directed My Nike in the No Comment omnibus collection from 2002. It is scheduled to reach theaters on August 4.
