'The Host 2' to be produced as video game and movie, the first case in Korea

'The Host 2', the sequel to Korea's biggest hit film, 'The Host" (Goemul in Korean title) is also produced as a video game.
Queen's Soft, developer of 'Another Day', the online SF action FPS (First Person Shooting) game, has announced that it became a sole holder of rights to video game 'The Host 2'. The game will be launched on various platforms, covering online, console and mobile. Aiming for release in 2011, its blockbuster film version is produced by Chungeoram Productions. It is the first case in Korea that movie and game version are made simultaneously. Queen's Soft sets to undertake the production of the game version in the second half of this year, aiming to release it along with movie version in 2011.

'The Host 2' video game will be developed on various platforms such as online, console and mobile. Taking the form of spin-off, it evolves around its predecessor's story line of humans' fight against unidentified monsters.

The video game is a first person action game featuring mutant humans with special talents. With the introduction of real time control system on difficulty level, it breaks away from existing quest type games to increase unexpectedness. Therefore, players find it more interesting to play it. Along with more than 20 game maps, it also presents a variety of battle modes which enable a user to play the game from the perspective of a monster.
'The Host 2' video game is a global project with $10 million budget. $2 million of the budget will be funded by MDA, the Media Development Authority of Singapore.

The MDA announced in July that it would invest a huge amount of money to the film 'The Host 2' through Boku Film, Singapore's largest film studio.
"We are very happy and feel a huge responsibility to produce into a game the sequel to the blockbuster movie which opened the new chapter in the Korean film history", said Han Sang-hoon, CEO of Queen's Soft. "I hope that when people talk about 'The Host2' what comes first to their mind is the game version not the movie version. For this, we will strive to make 'The Host 2' video game into a work with fine quality", said Mr. An with renewed commitment.

'There are cases where game version is made after the film has been completed. However, in 'Host2' movie and game versions are made at the same time, which is the first case in Korea", said Choi Yong-bae, CEO of Chungeoram Productions. "We will conduct multi marketing activities in the film and game industries at home and abroad to make the case of production of 'The Host 2' video game as success model in the history of Korean film marketing", he added. In the meantime, the script of the movie 'The Host 2' is in the final stage. Casting of director and lead roles will be soon completed. Production will kick off early next year.
