Last year, 8,094 Koreans visited the CES, ranking third after Americans (113,982) and Chinese (102,839).

The CES attracts so many Koreans because it showcases cutting-edge gadgets. The expo started in 1967 for home appliances but has expanded to artificial intelligence, IoT, robots and other future technologies.

One Korean participant said, "The CES is where you can get the first glimpse of the latest technology that will be commercialized one to two years in the future. IT accounts for a large proportion of Korean industry, so the CES naturally attracts a huge amount of interest".

The number of Korean businesses that take part in the CES is also growing steadily, from 330 in 2019 to around 400 this year.

Recently, not only IT companies but automakers, builders and even cosmetics manufacturers have been participating.
