In their role as announcers for the Unification Ministry's newly-launched Internet TV and radio channel, Min Kyung-na and Lee Young-ah serve as messengers of reunification-related news through the new media.

The two are doing everything themselves from researching and writing articles to hosting the programs.

"I try to deliver the stories on reunification issues and North Korea in an easily comprehensible manner", Min said on Sunday. "People come armed with this preconception that the words 'reunification' and 'North Korea' are inherently difficult and relate to boring subjects, but I want to change that".

Lee said, "I automatically turn to stories about North Korea and reunification when I go through papers. I feel a great sense of responsibility now towards helping the two Koreas reunify".

However, the ministry's new channel, launched early last month, has a long way to go with only a few hundreds of viewers and listeners tuning in so far each day. The two hosts' shared goal is to boost that figure to at least four digits.

Min, who majored in music, formerly worked as a news anchorwoman for MBC in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. Lee, a media major, worked as a radio reporter and weather presenter for KBS and CBS in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province.
