2005 Busan Asian Film Festival to Be Held

The 2005 Busan Asian Film Festival will be held May 4-8 at Gyeongseong University in Busan. A total of 623 films from 20 countries have been submitted to the festival as of Feb. 28.

The organizers of the festival said on March 9 that the number of films submitted this year is the largest ever; 434 films come from Korea, and the remaining 189 from other countries. Of the presented films, 432 are categorized as theater movies, 53 as experimental films, 75 as animation movies and 63 as documentaries.

The number of foreign films has risen by about 90 this year, demonstrating a growing interest in short film festivals.

The organizers plan to announce the list of nominated films on March 25. The jury will comprise five members, including director Yang Young-chul.
