2013 CES: Dress up your Smartphone with Patchworks

When you're shelling out hundreds of dollars for the latest smartphone, it makes sense to think about protecting it with more than a flimsy bumper. Patchworks is a Korean company that offers handsome smartphone cases made from real leather, wood and aluminum.

We discovered Patchworks at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show this week and were impressed by its high-quality craftsmanship and fashion-forward designs!

Not only are Patchworks' cases inspired by nature, the company commits to using 100% genuine materials. No cheap plastic finishes here. For instance, the Alloy X Wood smartphone bumper is made from aluminum and wood. The aircraft-grade aluminum is first cut with a high-precision machine and each bumper is hand-crafted. The wood comes from natural African blackwood and Korean teak wood, so you'll get a very authentic texture and color. In case you're worried that a bumper made with wood might weigh you down, each bumper weighs only 8 grams and is 1.2mm thick.

We also loved the high-tech side of Patchworks' cases. The sleek Alloy X CF is actually made with the same state-of-the-art carbon fiber used in space shuttles. It comes with an anti-scratch, anti-fingerprint USG Screen Protector, too. Perhaps you're not an astronaut dealing with high g-forces, but if you tend to drop your phone a lot, this may come in handy.

Check out the 12 vivid colors and slim design of the Patchworks Colorant case for iPhone 5. The case is only 0.9mm thick, made of high-strength polycarbonate and has an improved grip. Patchworks' definitely gets points for its fashion consciousness and diverse choices.

If you can't wait to get a new, well-made cover for your mobile device, the good news is that Patchworks has an online store available in Korean, English and Japanese. You can visit it here. The company also sells its products in 20 countries including the United States and Canada, so we hope more people will be able to experience this cool brand!
