[HanCinema's News] "The Roundup: Punishment" Passes Four Million Viewer Mark

According to the Korean Film Council, at approximately 3:20 PM on April 28th South Korean time, "The Roundup: Punishment" clocked four million admissions. The news comes as "The Roundup: Punishment" had already passed the two million and three million viewer marks on April 27th, only the fourth day of its theatrical availability. This fifth day arrival at the four million mark equals that of "The Roundup: No Way Out" last year and was faster than the seven days required for "The Roundup" in 2022.

"The Roundup: Punishment" also hit this milestone noticeably faster than the current box office leader this year, "Exhuma" from last February, which needed nine days to hit the four million viewer mark. However, "Exhuma" built much of its interest through positive discussion among cinemagoers. As the fourth film in a franchise, viewers already know what to expect from "The Roundup: Punishment" as a theatrical experience.

"The Roundup: Punishment" stars Ma Dong-seok in the leading role as a cop working to crack down on an online gambling operation. Ma Dong-seok as well as other actors have been out and about doing stage greetings in theaters, further helping to build up hype for the film. Responding to the news, an official representative for "The Roundup: Punishment" thanked viewers for their support, calling them the true protagonist of the series and pledging to do their best.
