A festival of cartoon and animation enjoyed by the public to be opened

Asia's biggest cartoon and animation festival, 'Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival (SICAF2009)' with the theme of 'Time Capsule, 100-year Trip' is held for 5 days from July 22 at Convention Hall, COEX, Samsung-dong, Seoul, Lotte Cinema (Konkuk Univ., Seoul), and Seoul Grand Park.
In its 13th edition, SICAF2009, Asia's largest cartoon and animation festival, consists of sections such as -Exhibition on Cartoons and Animations, -International Animation Film Festival, - International Digital Cartoon Competition, -SPP (Seoul Promotion Plan), a market for cartoon and animation industry, etc.
This year, a venue for exhibition and event has changed to COEX, Samsung-dong, Seoul and outdoor film festival to Seoul Grand Park. In addition, 'Seoul Character & Licensing Fair' is conducted with SICAF2009, which raises expectation on the festival higher than before.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Korean manhwa (a blanket term for Korea's cartoons and comics), many exhibitions and events are prepared. To provide an overview of the history of Korean manhwa, a special exhibition, 'Time Capsule, 100-year Trip' is hosted along with a foreign event 'Marble Comics Exhibition'. Admission fee is free on 22th (opening day) and 23th.
2009 SICAF Animation Film Festival (Lotte Cinema Konkuk Univ.) will present a total of 1673 works from 60 countries. For the first time in the history of SICAF, an outdoor film festival is held at Seoul Grand Park, July 18-19.
As part of SPP (SICAF Promotion Plan), a series of conferences and biz-matching are held along with International Digital Cartoon Competition, which provides a new form of cartoons created by high technology.
