Actor Kwon Sang-woo to become "A Man of $10 Million"

Actor kwon Sang-woo's movies "The Beast" and "Cheongchun Manhwa" exceeded the export 10 billion won to Japan.

Kwon passed the sales profit $10 million in Japan with his recent films of "The Beast" and "Cheongchun Manhwa" (the title means "Youth Comics"). It is the best record that is unprecedented in Korean stars in 2005.

Korean films such as actor Bae Yong-joon's "April Snow" ($7.5 million), actress Choi Ji-woo's "Yeonriji" ($3.5 million), actress Lee Young-ae's "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" ($3 million) and actor Lee Byung-hun's "A Bittersweet Life" ($3 million) were sold at a high price in 2005.

Kwon's new record in export profit will go on for the time being. "The Beast" was sold in $4 million to Japan's Amuse Entertainment and its additional sales including copyright contract exceeded $5 million while "Cheongchun Manhwa" recorded an export profit $5.2 million including additional copyright to Japan's SPO.

If the sales profit in Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan are included, the total sales profit will be 20% to 30% more than the above-mentioned profits.

Kwon is very popular in Japan now. He is a hottest Hallyu star in Japan after Yonsama Bae Yong-joon. His character products are attracting Japanese fans at KSJ (kwon Sang-woo in Japan) shop in Tokyo's world products street Aoyama.
