Actress Chae Shi-ra Falls from a Horse

Actress Chae Shi-ra fell from a horse while practicing horse-riding for historical drama "The Iron Empress" and suffered a hairline fracture to her hip bone. Chae had been practicing for two months at a riding track in Paju, Geyonggi Province.

She had been learning to ride a horse for her role as the greatest female warrior empress in Korean history. At first she thought she only suffered minor contusion, but went to see the doctor after being in constant pain for a week. Doctors have ordered rest for Chae and her prognosis will be determined in two weeks.

The new historical epic to be aired later this year, following "The Great King Sejong", "The Iron Empress" portrays the life and achievements of the most influential women in Goryeo Dynasty. She was supposedly a fierce warrior and experienced politician, who fought against the Tungustic people of Manchuria to claim Goryeo's old territory. Chae was taking riding lessons in an apparent attempt to portray the empress's feisty character perfectly.
