Her management agency said on Tuesday she has been cast as a lead character in director Ana Lily Amirpour's new film "Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon". Jeon flew to the U.S. on June 23 to join the project team, which started shooting on Sunday.

Jeon caught Amirpour's eye in "Burning", which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival's competition section last year. After getting a call from Amirpour, Jeon auditioned for the Hollywood project and got the role.

"Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon" is a fantasy adventure film that revolves around a girl with unusual powers who escapes from a mental asylum and tries to make it on her own in New Orleans. It also stars Kate Hudson, Craig Robinson and Ed Skrein.
