Actress Moon Geun-young has been revealed as the anonymous donor of more than 850 million won (US$ 850.000) for the past six years, making her the biggest individual giver in the Korean Community Chest's history.

According to the organization, the 21-year-old actress, who is currently starring in the popular drama "Painter of the Wind", donated in past years, anonymously, at her request.

However, as the organization announced a list of their top donors in tune with its 10th anniversary and ruled out Moon's name with an "anonymous actress in her 20s", there had been ongoing rumors about the mysterious donor. People working in and out of the entertainment business started to point to Moon, as she had already donated in the past.

Community Chest of Korea finally revealed that it was indeed Moon who donated the money, adding that the donations were given in large sums, 50 million (US$ 50.000) to even 100 million won (US$ 100.000), instead of regular contributions.

Moon, who starred in the hit movies "A Tale of Two Sisters" (2003) and "My Little Bride" (2004), was already well-known for being generous in donations as she supported the "Miracle Library", located around the nation, helped build a study room for poor children living in Haenam, South Jeolla Province, offered 55 million won (US$ 55.000) for children suffering from cancer and leukemia and also donated 30 million won (US$ 30.000) to students living in Gwangju.

News that she donated 100 million won (US$ 100.000) to "Morning Reading", a program carried out by a group of teachers and donors who believe in reading for only 10 minutes before school can help transform a child's life, for the past three years, was also revealed recently.

Coming in second is national soccer team coach Hong Myung-bo, who donated 650 million won in total, and Kim Jung-tae, former chief executive of Kookmin Bank.

Among corporate donors, Samsung led the pack with 187-point-two billion won, followed by Hyundai Automotive Group, SK and LG.
