Animation "Dragon" broadcast nationwide in the USA via NBC Date

Image Plus (CEO: Jung, Won-Man) recently announced that Dragon, a joint animation production by Korea, Germany, and Canada, began broadcasting nationwide on Sept. 9 NBC in the USA.

A stop-motion claymation based on Dav Pilkey's children's picturebook of the same title, Dragon is about the daily little adventures of a lonesome blue dragon told with an educational twist.

Image Plus (Korea), Cite-Amerique (CANADA), and Scopas Medien AG have been collaborating since 2002 to produce the animation's 52 12-minute episodes of season I and II, while season III is to be completed by the first half of 2007.

The animation was first showcased on EBS in 2004. In 2005, it was awarded with an Excellent Pilot by the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh, Byung-Moon) for the quality of its production.

Having already been broadcast in nine European countries, Dragon's US broadcast will be accompanied with the market release of various related products, including children's books and stuffed toys marketed by Scholastic Media (President: Deborah Forte), an affiliated company of Scholastic Publishing Co., famous for the Harry Potter series.

"Following the advancement into the European market, this NBC broadcast is a good opportunity to push our character goods and merchandizing business in the US market", said Jung, Won-Man, CEO of Image Plus. "It is expected that the income from the US market should be about 9.5 million dollars". Image Plus receives 30% of the animation's revenues.
