Animation Festival held in the 'the lakeside city'

The 9th Chuncheon Anitown Festival kicks off on 30 Sept.

The 9th Chuncheon Anitown Festival is held from 30 September to 3 October in the Animation Museum, the Hightech Venture Town and Ilsong Art Hall of Hallym University located in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.

Among several workshops, animation screening and conferences, director Park Se-jong's workshop would be the most noticeable event. His "Birthday Boy" was nominated for the best animated short film in the 77th Academy Awards, and local animators and interested students will be able to get a change to meet up with Park on the opening day of the festival. Director Park Se-jong was the first South Korean to have a work nominated for an Oscar.

Besides, the directors and producers of Japan's Chibli Studio will join a seminar to present 'How does Chibli Studio work?' on September 1, and Micheal Goguen, director of the animated series TV show, 'Batman,' will host a seminar regarding the process of its production next day. Other than that, there will be a variety of seminars, including "Effective way to deliver your idea' covered by Richard Morss from the UK.

In particular, international animation experts that include Meghan Cole, the Walt Disney Co. executive, will assess animation ideas of Korea and China, and a selected work will be produced, subsidized by the Walt Disney.

Joined by some 40 animation experts from Japan, the US, the UK, France and China, open discussions will cover varied themes including "Japanese TV Animation Market" and "Comparative Analysis of How to Develop Animation Ideas between the US and Japan".
