Animax Awards names 'Nuri is Helping' as the "best Korean work"

The Animax Awards, hosted by animation channel Animax (CEO: Hong, Seung-Hwa), announced winning animations in Korea.

Having started in 2002 in Japan to discover original and fresh animated works, Animax Awards has now expanded to seven Asian countries including Korea.

From March 22 to May 31, the organization committee selected 31 from about 100 scenarios considered for their excellent qualities, one of which was hailed as having the best scenario in the Korean preliminaries.

The jury unanimously selected "Nuri is Helping..". by Won, Jong-Ik.

The winning work tells the story of Nuri, who is born with supernatural powers. Nuri suppresses his powers until one day, he is forced to use it during an unexpected event. After the incident, he travels all over the world and helps people in difficulties. The jury praised and gave the work their votes for its uniqueness and fun story, as well as its engaging style of writing.

The other three excellent scenarios include Eolreri Kolreri (Kang, Yu-Il), "Metal Breaker" (Yoon, Tae-Hoon), and "Copy Murder" (Kim, Seong-Hee).

The writer of the best work receives a testimonial, prize money of KRW 2 million, and an opportunity to participate in the main competition of the Animax Awards in 2007 as the Korean animation representative. The best work in the final competition of the Animax Awards will receive an opportunity to be made as an animated film by a major Japanese animation production company, along with a cash prize of 2 million yen.
