"There is an increasing popularity of K-pop among J-pop and anime fans", said Marc Perez, CEO of Anime Expo and the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation. "It is only natural to be working with KCON to create this major partnership".

At KCON on October 13 in Irvine, California, scouts will be roaming throughout the convention to pick out the best cosplay outfits mirroring famous entertainment groups, such as, Girls' Generation, PSY and Big Bang (attendees will also have the option of registering at the Anime Expo booth). A Masquerade, featuring the top individuals, as selected by the judging panel, will showcase their costumes and performances on stage. Special guests along with some of the best cosplayers from around the country will be on the judging panel.

"We are happy to be partnering with Anime Expo", said Ted Kim, acting president & CEO of Mnet. "We look forward to co-creating one of their signature events with a K-Pop spin by giving fans a chance to not only meet their idols, but also dress and act like them".

Anime Expo will serve as a co-marketing partner for KCON, working closely with Mnet to promote the event. Looking forward, Anime Expo and Mnet will collaborate to bring a K-Pop act to Anime Expo in 2013, further strengthening this newly-formed partnership.
