The renowned CEO awed many Koreans, as he left behind no property or company stocks under his name.

Many are deeply moved by his milestone achievements as he led Korea's steel industry and for his works as a philanthropist.

[Interview : Yae Jeong-hwan, Technical team Arirang TV] "He set a precedent in the history of Korea's donation culture".

[Interview : Hwang Seong-hui, Reporter Arirang TV] "Communication Director Na Seung-yeon who won the 2018 Winter Olympics over to Pyeongchang made the greatest impression on me. She's an alumni of Arirang TV, so I'm really proud of her. She's truly inspiring".

With her characteristic composure and impressive presentation skills, Na Seung-yeon won over the Winter Olympics committee to hold the event in Pyeongchang in 2018. Another contributor was the Olympic gold medalist, Kim Yuna.

After two failed attempts, Pyeongchang is finally able to host the Winter Olympics in 2018! Na Seung-yeon and Kim Yuna, also made our people of the year.

This year has also been packed with sports action, as the Korean baseball MVP Lee Dae-ho made it into a Japanese professional league.

Without hesitation, the Orix Buffaloes in the Pacific League asked him to sign a two-year contract for nearly 11.2 million dollars. This suggests that Japanese fans also hold him in high regard.

Korean comedy can't do without this masterful celebrity! Kim Byung-man produced over 250 challenging skits for the "Master Show", which came to an end after four years.

He attracted even greater attention, as he was nominated as a non-scripted entertainment finalist for the International Emmy Awards.

[Interview : Kim Nu-ri, Weather caster Arirang TV ] "I heard he was nominated for the Emmy Awards. His professionalism inspires all of us".

The literary scene in Korea also showed impressive advances. Shin Kyung-sook, who paved the way for a literary Hallyu with her bestselling book, "Please Look after Mom", is also part of our people of the year. Using the universal theme of motherhood, she crossed the language barrier with ease and instilled deep emotion in readers around the world.

Hallyu might not have taken off without the success of Girls' Generation.

K-pop has, in fact, been a major force that gripped the audience in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. At the core of the K-pop storm stood these nine talented singers.

And that concludes our 2011 People of the Year!

2012, known as the Year of the Dragon is also expected to be action-packed, with the approaching general and presidential elections.

Influential figures in the cultural field will also continue to wow us in 2012.
