Arirang TV Enters U.K. with 24-Hour Channel

Arirang TV began broadcasting in the U.K. on Tuesday via British satellite stations Sky UK and Freesat.

Some 6.6 million households there can now watch the English-language channel at all hours of the day and night. This now makes Arirang TV available in 106 countries.

"The channel will spread Korean culture not only with K-pop or beauty programs but also with traditional Korean music and arts", CEO Moon-Jae-wan said. "We expect the channel to spread Korean culture in the U.K. and also to help build up a favorable image globally".

Arirang TV is planning to localize its content by region starting next year, marking its 20th anniversary.

In America and Europe, it will expand its news programs focused on security and economic issues while focusing on Korean pop culture content like music and dramas in Asia.
