[Reporter : ] Hello Conn-young

So what do you have for us today ?

[Reporter : ] Well, I went to go see the Korean musical Miso yesterday. The musical told the story of Choon-hyangJeon , which is a Korean classic love story. I brought you all the details of this musical, take a look.

The original Korean musical Miso made its grand comeback on the 18th of April. Ever since its first performance in 1997, the traditional musical has been the performance to watch for the tourists visiting Korea.

The story of Choonhyang and Mongryong develops as they first meet at the Dano Festival. The dancers' vivacious and animated dance, accompanied with the live traditional music, portrays love at first sight.

The lights dim as Choonhyang and Mongryong meet again as they frolic along the river. They seal their feelings toward each other but this happiness does not last long as the jealous Hak-do, who is also in love with Choonhyang, devises a plan to separate them.
However the unconditional love between Choonhyang and Mongryong cannot be broken by Hakdo's evil plans, eventually the two end up married happily ever after.

MISO tells this beautiful love story of Choonhyang and Mongryong without any dialogue, breaking the language barrier for those who do not speak the Korean language. This better enables foreigners to engage with the storyline. The dancers' acting skills play a huge part in helping the audience understand and relate to the feelings of the characters, as their facial expressions and body movements express the feelings of love, jealousy, sadness, and relief.

Unlike some of the traditional performances that only play traditional music, MISO uses melodies from the film Mission Impossible and Michael Jackson's songs for a comical twist during the show, which serves as an unexpected surprise for the audience.

The original Korean musical MISO offers Koreans and foreigners a fun and entertaining way to learn more about and appreciate Korean traditional culture, and also admire the beautiful designs and colors of the Korean traditional clothing, Hanbok.

[Reporter : ] The open run original Korean Musical MISO will be showing twice a day at the Chongdong Theater every day except Mondays at 4pm and 8pm.

So, how was it

[Reporter : ] Well, the musical surpassed all of my expectations. I found it amazing how I was relating to the characters situation and emotions just by watching them dance and listening to the music. And also the quality of the show, this definitely broke many stereotypes that I had with traditional performances. From time to time the show would be continued on the projection screen. And also, I have to say I very much enjoyed the scene where the Mission Impossible melody came our as Hak-do was devising his evil plan.

A love story expressed without dialogue, it sounds like quite a performance! I definitely will have to go see this myself! And moving on, what other events do you have for us

[Reporter : ] I have an exhibition that deals with marriage and children to celebrate the upcoming family month, May.

As family month, May, is coming up, there seem to be more exhibitions on marriage and for children taking place in Korea. From old, traditional marriage necessities to current artworks made by domestic and international artists, all of the artworks portray harmony and peace within a family.

Two deer peacefully eating grass and a peach hanging on a tree-these are two of the 8 paintings that symbolize good marital chemistry and fertility.

A folding screen consisting of beautiful peonies and a pair of candles and a wild geese couple were used in marriage ceremonies to celebrate the affluent future of the newlyweds.

Furniture and pottery with butterflies or flower painted or engraved on them were also very precious wedding gifts.

Modern artists from around the world participated in this exhibition to portray the meaning of family in art. The paintings of the children in artworks were painted in bright colors to portray the innocence of childhood.

Even painter Park Soo-Keun, who usually used thick texture to portray a calm, serene atmosphere in his paintings, used bright colors when painting children.

[Interview : So Yuk-young, Action Team Leader Seoul Auction] "With the family month coming up, we prepared a Wedding and Kids exhibition. In the wedding exhibition, there are artworks related to traditional Korean weddings, and the Kids exhibition contains artworks that are related to children".

Every artwork portrays a harmonious life in, at times simple, and at times glamorous and elegant ways with different materials and styles.

[Reporter : ] The Wedding and Kids exhibition will be showing at Seoul Auction Gangnam Branch until the 24th of April.

It's really hard to find an exhibition that meets to eye to both adults and children. I feel like this exhibition satisfies the appetite for both age groups.

[Reporter : ] Exactly. For the parents, they can look at the beautiful traditional ceramics and folding screens that signify marriage, while the children are looking at the children's artworks that, with all the color and designs that look like it just popped out of cartoons, will definitely match their taste.

This sounds like a great weekend outing with your family so we'll definitely take a look at this, and now you have the events bulletin for us[Reporter : ] Yes I do. I have an ice show, and two musicals.
