Hello Michelle

[Reporter : ] Hello Conn-young

So what are the things we can do for Mother's Day ?

[Reporter : ] To start us off I've brought you a play, a musical, and a ballet performance that may suit your taste. Some are based on books that we are very familiar with, like the Alice in Wonderland and a fable that we've probably all heard of...The Hare and the Tortoise. Here are more details on this one.

Based on the illustrated book by the famous author Shaun Tan, the play, 'The Arrival', portrays the life of a man who goes on a journey to search for a better life for his family. He encounters exotic creatures and interesting people in a foreign land and overcomes many obstacles to return to his family.

The play underscores its message of being hopeful during times of hardships and the importance of family through its use of mime and great stage management.

The family play 'Dreaming Turtle' tells the tale of a turtle and rabbit on a race through the woods. This version of the fable 'The Hare and the Tortoise' is portrayed in a different way for children to better understand the moral of the story.

Instead of using standardized sentences, the use of onomatopoeia allows children to create a better image of the story in their heads.

Louis Carroll's story, 'Alice in Wonderland' is turned into a ballet performance choreographed by James Jeon.

The ballet performance uses both classical and modern pop songs to engage the audience.

[Reporter : ] Many of these performances' themes portray the importance of family and overcoming hardships for a better future, so these may be the perfect performances to watch with your family.

And also, there's a play, a musical, and a ballet performance, so we have a variety of performance genres to choose from. I may want to go watch 'The Arrival' with my parents.

[Reporter : ] Yes. And you know, there has been recent statistics that shows that only 8 percent of teenagers talk to their parents about their lives and worries every day. A whopping 42% of teenagers claimed to only talk to their dads for less than 30 minutes a day. Maybe these family performances can help start a lively conversation with your parents and children.

And on that note, I have more events that may be helpful to reboost the family converstaion. To celebrate the Korean family month of May, a series of concerts will be held for parents and families.

Master singer of folk songs from Gyeonggi province, Kim Young-im, will have a concert to celebrate his 40th year as a singer.

Singer Kim Young-im has played a huge role in popularizing Korean traditional music. Her concert will be a Gugak musical, which is a mixture of Gugak and theater.

World renown soprano Sumi Jo will be portraying the passion of gypsies built around a Bohemian theme as she will sing selections from operas and musicals.

She will be holding the concert outdoors at a soccer stadium so the audience can enjoy the beautiful spring weather while listening to her music.

Another singer holding a concert in May is Korean diva Insooni. She will be bringing back the beat of 70s and 80s disco with her performance at a roller skating rink.

Concerts by old and contemporary singers will perform at dinner shows suitable for a family outing.

Singer Lee Mija and Nam Jin will please fans with their old hit songs and contemporary pop singer Jang Yoon-jeong will host her famous dinner show to celebrate Mother's Day..

I haven't been to a dinner concert before but I heard parents love it, especially Jang Yoon-jeong's dinner show I heard is always a hit.

[Reporter : ] Yes and you don't always need to stick to dinner shows, but there are concerts held by Sumi Jo and Insooni, who people of all ages know and are used to so this may be another opportunity for the whole family to go out and enjoy great music.

I think all of these events you've told us so far are all great for families to get away from all the household chores and the stress from school and at work and just go out for a day, and really just celebrate Children's Day or Mother's Day and have a great time.

[Reporter : ] Definitely, people need more of that..to just get away from the daily chores and go out and enjoy each other's company. And as a reminder, the bulletin today is filled with events that will be happening very soon, so don't forget to buy those tickets!

[Reporter : ] The bulletin features 3 events.

R&B singer Musiq Soulchild will hold his first live concert in Korea on May 11th at Ax-Korea. His hit songs consist of, "For the Night", "Half Crazy", "Who Knows", and "If U Leave".

The musical 'Chicago' will be showing at the D-Cube Arts Center from June 10th to October 7th. The cast includes singer Insooni and musical star Choi Jeong-won-I playing the role of Velma Kelly, and Yoon Gong-joo and singer Ivy will play the role of Roxie Hart.

Shakespeare's Hamlet will be playing at the Seoul Arts Center's Jayu Theater until May 5th. It will be interesting to small screen actress turned musical star Jung Soo-young to play 5 different roles in this play alone.

Thank you for all of these great updates, see you tomorrow
