Art and Culture

It's finally Friday and we have our Michelle Kim here with us with our last arts and culture segment of the week. Today, she brings us a few previews of movies that are either playing now or are scheduled for release in early December.

Hello Michelle

[Reporter : ] Hello Conn-young

So what film will you start us off with[Reporter : ] I'm sure a lot of you have been waiting for this film to come to Korea.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2" opened here yesterday and I have a preview for you now.

The three stars of the last installment of the "Twilight" series -- Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner -- were greeted by thousands of fans in London on Wednesday at the UK premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2".
The event took place just days after the world premiere in Los Angeles, with the three stars signing autographs and posing for pictures with devoted fans, who are also known as Twi-hards.
Stewart, who played Bella in all of the "Twilight" films, said the end of the series doesn't necessarily mean goodbye.

[Interview : Kristen Stewart, Actress] "I don't really like to look at it like we're walking away or having to saying goodbye or anything like forever; any time you happen to meet somebody who also is into 'Twilight', like, you will always have that in common with those people that you meet and that's really rare to have on such an enormous scale, so that's pretty cool".

The final film in the series follows Bella in her new life as a vampire, as she and her husband Edward Cullen try to protect their child from an ancient vampire coven.
Stewart also talked about how excited she was to finally play a vampire.

[Interview : Kristen Stewart, Actress] "I couldn't wait, I was like it had again been years as playing her as a human and I think it didn't feel like I was jumping into this fantasy world it just felt like the next step like the next natural progression for her".

"Breaking Dawn: Part 2" is now playing in Korea.
Twi-hards[Reporter : ] I have no doubt about that.
However, Bella's transformation from human to vampire and Bella and Edward's adorable baby girl will likely have the Twi-hards heading back to the theater over and over again.

I bet. And what else do you have for us today[Reporter : ] Well, not everyone is a die-hard "Twilight" fan so I brought you a few more film previews to help you as you make your weekend plans.

The sci-fi fantasy film "Upside Down" is the story of two star-crossed lovers living in two different dimensions.
The two main characters, Adam and Eden are from two separate planets that are directly opposite one another: one is up and the other is down.
The two meet in childhood and feel a strong connection to one another, but the position of their two planets means that their love will always go unfulfilled until they decide to try to create a pathway between their two worlds.
"The Words" follows a young writer named Rory Jansen who finds success after publishing a love story that he did not write. When the secret is revealed, Jansen pays the price for stealing.
In the Korean romantic comedy "My P.S. Partner", a couple sees their lives turned upside down after a single phone call. The bold love story that revolves around an accidental incident of phone sex is sure to resonate with audiences, but is strictly for adults.
Lead actress Kim Ah-joong offered her point of view.

[Interview : Kim Ah-joong, Actress] "The movie tells the story from the perspective of the weaker person in a relationship. It will show how the weak console and sympathize with each other and fight against the stronger person".

These three stories of love are sure to heat up movie theaters into the chilly winter season.

This is particularly great news for me because I love watching romantic films. Of the three, which film would you recommend[Reporter : ] I would choose either "The Words" or "My P.S. Partner". If you want a classic love story that will make you cry, "The Words" is the one for you. But if you're looking for something light, funny and a bit sultry, "My P.S. Partner" will be the thing to watch.

Well, I'll certainly keep that in mind as I make my reservations. And now to wrap things up, you have the events bulletin for us[Reporter : ] Yes, I do. Today's bulletin features a concert by legendary guitarist Shin Joong-hyun, a Christmas Eve concert by rock star Kim Kyung-ho, and a New Year's Eve concert for the whole family called "Disney on Classic". Here are the details.

[Reporter : ed: jenny] This bulletin features 3 events.

Guitarist Shin Joong-hyun, a rock legend in Korea, returns to the stage for two concerts at Olympic Park's Olympic Hall on December 1st and 2nd. The legendary guitarist will be joined on stage by his two sons, guitarist Shin Yoon-chul and keyboardist Shin Suk-chul, and a 12-person orchestra.

Rock star Kim Kyung-ho presents two concerts on Christmas Eve at Konkuk University's New Millennium Hall. Kim is promising a night filled with powerful rock music and his energetic performance style.

People who grew up watching Disney movies may want to catch the "Disney on Classic" concert, which features songs from Disney films sung by vocalists Carlyn Connolly and Tony Gonzalez with accompaniment by Korea's Prime Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert will be at Olympic Park's Olympic Hall on December 28th and 29th.

Thank you for the update.
