Asian DHX Forum 2008 is held

'Asian DHX (Digital Heritage Exchange) Forum 2008' will be held in the Small Auditorium of National Museum of Korea on 17th and 18th.

'Asian DHX Forum' has been started as 'Digitalization of Asia's cultural relics' had suggested by Korea and selected in declaration in 2002 Asia IT Minister Conference by cooperation with Asian countries to have creative digitalization in the 1st IT Minister Conference of Korea, China, and Japan.

It had been held three times from 2004 to 2006, but it hasn't held in 2007 due to the end of the government supports.

In this forum which has been held again since 2006, cases of CT(Culture Technology) and policies related to digitalization of cultural relics in Asia and European countries will be studied as well as figuring out the present conditions of Korean and overseas in order to have active digitalization of Asian cultural relics.

Also there will be presentations on Digital Restoration, Digital Museum, Heritage Data Center, and Disaster Protection of Cultural Assets by specialists from industries, educational institutes, and political institutes about digitalized cultural relics of European countries like Spain as well as Asian countries like Korea, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Also there will be a discussion on what digital cultural relics are, why it is necessary, and plans of international cooperation about digital cultural relics by specialists.

The 'Asian DHX Forum' has been hosted by CT Institutes of Kyungwon University, X-edu Business of Jeonju University, and KAIST GSCT and has been sponsored by Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Korea Culture & Contents Agency, National Museum of Korea, and Korea Culture & Contents Technology Association.
