Average Korean Film Production Cost W4 Billion

The average feature film cost almost four billion won to make last year.

According to the Korean Film Council, film production costs averaged three-point-92 billion won last year, nearly double the cost of two-point-one-five billion won in 2000.

Some 21 movies cost more than five billion won each, up 14 percent from 2004 when 15 films had similarly large budgets.

The number of local film productions has risen from 59 films in 2000 and 80 films in 2003 to 87 films made locally last year.
